Following the demand of parents, the Punjab government has decided to extend the winter vacation in schools by one more week.

According to 24News HD TV channel, the winter vacation will be extended from January 9 to January 15 in all public and private schools of Punjab province.

The channel report said that the decision to extend the holidays by one week was taken on the strong demand of the parents.

Earlier, due to severe cold and smog in Punjab, the school holidays were extended only till January 8.

However, the school education department was requested by the parents to extend the holidays by one more week.

The channel report said that the Department of School Education Punjab is reviewing the entire situation regarding the extension of holidays.

Deputy Secretary Schools Punjab Chaudhry Naveed Deerath clarified in his tweet on Thursday night that 'winter vacations will not be extended in schools yet.
